Here We Go Again

The proverbial light at the end of the tunnel is fast approaching. No, it’s not a mack truck but spring training thats driving towards us. Giants’ pitchers and catchers are set to report to camp and begin work on Thursday, February the 15th. Who will be the big surprises this spring? Will Tim Lincecum wow us all? How many fastballs… Read more →

Part 1: Bullpen Shake Down

As we approach the start of the baseball season, just 7 days till pitchers and catchers report, I wanted to break down the state of the Giants in a three part series. Each part will focus on different components of the 2007 Giants. These parts are the Bullpen, Starting Rotation, and Position Players. Think of this as a pre-season report… Read more →

Matheny Retires

Giants announce the retirement of Mike Matheny today. Matheny was in the final year of his 3 year 10.5 million dollar deal. Most expected that this was going to happen with the signing of Bengie Molina but it’s still unfortunate news. Matheny was battling continued post-concussion problems after his early departure in 2006 in which he experienced a “serious foul-tip”… Read more →

That Barry Guy Returns

I don’t know if you’ve heard of him or not but the Giants just signed this guy named Barry Bonds… The AP reports that Barry Bonds has passed his physical and has finalized his deal with the Giants. This is what I expected to happen after all and I didn’t put much stock in the theory that the Giants would… Read more →

Wednesday’s News

Still not much happening in the world of the Giants. Mid to late January has to be the worst time for baseball news. Any tiny, minuscule scrap of news is interesting for news starved baseball fans. Marvin Bernard is growing a mustache? Quick! Call Rich Draper and the newspapers! Only 22 days left until pitchers and catchers report for spring… Read more →

Friday’s News

A few small happenings around the league so lets dive right in! 1B/OF Craig Wilson signs with the Atlanta Braves for 1 year 2 million dollars. I like this move for Atlanta and think it could turn out to be a bargain. The Braves can platoon Wilson with whoever else they want to run out to first now that Laroche… Read more →

Small News Update

A couple of ex-Giants find new homes. Todd Greene gets a minor league contract and spring training invite from the Pads. I’ll miss watching Todd trying to leg out a triple on a ball that he whacked into ‘triples alley’. Slowest man alive, but in all in all he was a pretty good backup for the Giants hitting .289/.335/.428. To… Read more →

Breaking the Speed Limit

I am telling you right know, get ready for Pedro Gomez. A six part interview headlined by Pedro talking to other Giants and Bonds? Sure! ESPN would green light that in a nanosecond. Get ready for him like you’ve never gotten ready for anything before. In my best salty grizzled cowboy voice “Theres a media blitz a-comin’!” Barry Bonds has… Read more →

Tim Worrell Calls it Quits

Today, 14 year veteran Tim Worrell officially retired. Worrell’s return to San Fran didn’t go as smoothly as planned and memories of his 2003 performance were just that, memories. In 2006 Worrell started strong notching 6 saves for the G-Men in April before running into trouble and never recovering his form that made him a successful reliever. Most will remember… Read more →
