You may have noticed — the three of you that read this website — that we’ve been down for a few days. The reason: hackers. Dirty, dirty hackers. Sometime around 10/10/11 malicious code was inserted into some server files that help run the blogging software that we use here at BCB. The result was a script that tried to redirect… Read more →
I’d like to welcome our newest site contributor, Chris Martinez. If you’ve been reading up on the Giants’ minor league system the last few years, chances are you’ve read some of Chris’ work. She has written for SFDugout (now defunct, sadly) and she has covered minor league baseball for MILB.com. I’m excited to get the chance to add someone to… Read more →
There’s another place you can catch the Bay City Ball writing staff, and that’s on Twitter. Do yourself a favor and give us a follow. Chris Quick (@BayCityBall), while riffing on the Giants’ “offense,” will say stuff like… He also has a tendency to get really excited when he hears the word “graph,” similar to the way Dug the Talking… Read more →
I would like to take this chance to welcome our newest contributor, Rory Paap, to the website. Rory has been writing at Paapfly.com since 2009 and he’s quickly become one of the better Giants’ bloggers out there. You can also find his writing on The Hardball Times. You can head over to the contributors section to read more about Rory, but in the… Read more →
If you opened your browser window this morning and moseyed on over to Rob Neyer’s Sweet Spot Blog, you probably noticed a short blurb on the tail-end of today’s post. Rob Neyer is moving on from ESPN. It goes without saying that I wish Rob the best in whatever he does next. It’s not a stretch to say that, for… Read more →
I’ve gone and done it again — I’ve ended up changing the theme used for BCB. I can’t seem to keep things the same, but I like the way this new theme looks. I think it reads well, and I think the comments sections reads much better. Hopefully it will encourage more people to post, post, post in the comments…. Read more →
A quick update: I haven’t shutdown the site for the offseason, but I am in the middle of a couple of things. Expect updates to begin again by tomorrow. I’ve got some things in the pipeline that I’m hoping everyone will enjoy. Thanks for bearing with me.
Dear readers, I’ll be away from BCB for the next week or so because of vacation. I’ll be, as they say, going off-the-grid at least until next Friday. Looking forward to catching up on my summer reading (Catch-22 by Joseph Keller and a short story collection of sci-fi legend Philip K. Dick). In the meantime, feel free to watch all… Read more →
I’ll be posting some Lincecum thoughts later today but I wanted to give a quick update on Bay City Ball. You’ll notice a new nav-bar at the top of this website. I’ve been asked by Rob Neyer of ESPN to join the ‘SweetSpot Network’ — a collection of baseball bloggers covering, eventually, every team in baseball. You can read Rob’s… Read more →
