All stats are from the period between November 11 and 24.
The Arizona Fall League ended last week and a few other Giants, new and established, joined the fray in the Caribbean leagues. The AFL section includes a final wrap of the stats for each player.
In the Dominican League, a pair of minor league journeymen got their start in the Giants organization. Let’s get to it.

Cibao: Francisco Peguero made his Dominican debut November 16. He’s started all six games in center field and started out hot with five hits in his first three games. November 17 he had two doubles and an RBI against Escogido. Peguero is striking out a lot with seven whiffs and one walk. He had a particularly rough game November 20, a 4-3 16-inning affair against Estrellas where he went 0-for-8 with three strikeouts and 13 men left on base during his at-bats…Waldis Joaquin pitched 2/3 inning with one run and a walk allowed November 21 and earned the win over Licey. It was his first appearance since November 8 and he has 2 1/3 innings over four appearances with a 19.29 ERA…Edward Concepcion hasn’t played since October 21…Rafael Rodriguez, Adalberto Mejia, and Luis Rojas have not yet played.
Escogido: Jackson Williams joined the defending Dominican League and Caribbean Series champs on November 17 and has played in two games. He has a hit in each of his games and hit an RBI triple against Cibao in his first game. Escogido has a crowded catching corps with eight catchers listed, including two of the best young catchers in the game in Cleveland’s Carlos Santana and the Yankees’ top catching prospect Gary Sanchez. It’ll be tough for Williams to get reps behind those guys…Justin Fitzgerald had a brief start November 11 with four runs (one earned) allowed in three innings. He walked three before he was pulled. It was the second shortest start of the Dominican League season for Fitzgerald, who had pitched five innings in each of his previous two starts. He has not pitched since the no-decision against Licey on the 11th…Roger Kieschnick went ice cold since our last update: 0-for-11 with five strikeouts and two walks. His power also went out. He hasn’t had an extra-base hit since November 7 when he hit his fourth home run of the year…Kelvin Marte and Wilmin Rodriguez haven’t pitched since early November.
Estrellas: Todd Linden went 3-for-26 with 2 RBIs. He’s hitting .133 since November 9. The good news is he hit a home run November 20 against Cibao and he has six walks over his last eight games. He’s playing almost exclusively at first base, with three of his 27 games for Estrellas as the designated hitter.
Este: Fabio Castillo has been lights out for los Toros with two runs (one earned) allowed in 10 innings. He gave up the earned run on November 20 against Escogido. It was the first run he had allowed since October 23. Castillo, like Willy Lebron below, was a recent free agent pickup for the Giants. Castillo is 25 years old and pitched pretty well in 2012 between Double-A and Triple-A in the Houston organization. He threw 56 innings in 35 relief appearances and struck out 41 while walking 26. Of the two minor league free agents the Giants just picked up, I’d say Castillo is the better shot to contribute for the club in 2013…Angel Villalona got back to action November 15 and enjoyed a brief good time at the plate. He had four hits in three games last week but over his last two games hasn’t hit at all. Villalona also has seven strikeouts over six games since he returned to the Toros lineup.
Licey: Willy Lebron has taken on a decent workload on November with 11 1/3 innings pitched this month. He’s allowed two runs over seven innings since November 11. Lebron made his return to baseball last year in the Kansas City organization after a four year absence from MLB. He originally signed with the Cubs in 1999 and broke into baseball in the U.S. in 2005 with Bakersfield in the California League and later pitched 8 2/3 innings for the Dominican Summer League Reds club in 2006. He was inactive from 2007-2010 and didn’t pitch with an affiliated club in 2012 before he joined Licey. He signed a minor league deal with the Indians in January but never pitched for them at any level. So the Giants took a flyer on him. He’s 33 years old and if he sticks around in 2013 will probably be bullpen fodder in Fresno. If he pitches well, he may end up like Jean Machi–a September call up who can contribute…Juan Ciriaco hasn’t played since October 21.
In the Venezuelan League, Hector Sanchez is now catching in La Guaira.
| Name | Position | League | Team | 2012 club | Acquired |

| Ehire Adrianza | SS | VWL | La Guaira | Richmond | FA 06 |
Zulia: Jose Flores got hot as soon as he started playing every day. After about a week on the bench, Flores picked up three hits November 11 against Margarita and then rattled off a four game hitting streak, including a 4-for-6 game with two doubles and an RBI November 20. He’s 0-for-8 over his last two games but is still hitting .355.
Margarita: Boof Bonser made one brief start November 17 against Magallanes where he allowed two runs in 1 2/3 innings. He was tagged for his second loss of the winter…Mitch Lively blew up November 13 when he allowed four runs and three hits without recording an out. He recovered with 1 2/3 shutout innings on November 18 with one hit and two strikeouts but his ERA remains an inflated 7.71 in 9 1/3 innings this winter…Yusmeiro Petit made his winter debut November 16 with five strong innings with one run allowed but got the loss against Margarita. His second start, November 22 against Aragua, was rough with six runs allowed over five innings. That was also a loss for Petit, although he struck out five.
Caracas: Daniel Mayora’s bat fell cold due the third baseman’s brief stint on the bench. He had 16 at-bats since our last update and had only two hits. He collected two RBIs November 13 against Zulia but has seven strikeouts over his last five games…Jesus Galindo has yet to play.
La Guaira: Hector Sanchez picked up three hits in the first four games of his winter season. He had a double and two RBIs November 24 against Margarita. Sanchez has one walk and four strikeouts so far…Ehire Adrianza played in four games and had four hits since our last update. He also had a double, a triple, and an RBI over those games. Adrianza has 12 walks and 20 strikeouts in 87 at-bats so far.
Lara: Edwin Escobar hasn’t played.

In the Puerto Rican League, there’s a bit of sad news. Hector Correa was released and the Dodgers picked him up earlier in the week. That leaves us with three Giants to cover here.
| Name | Position | League | Team | 2012 club | Acquired |
| Cristian Otero | SS | PR | Manati | AZL | 11 (18th round) |

| Johnny Monell | C | PR | Caguas | Richmond | 07 (30th round) |
Johnny Monell collected seven hits over six games since our last update. He hit two homers and drove in five runs and he walked five times. Monell is hitting .310 in 29 at-bats…Cristian Otero and Gaspar Santiago haven’t yet played.
In the Australian Baseball League, Cameron Lamb returned to action.
| Name | Position | League | Team | 2012 club | Acquired |
| Cameron Lamb | RHP | ABL | Perth | Salem-Keizer | FA 08 |
Lamb kept his ERA spotless with three scoreless innings in two appearances last week. He allowed a walk and a hit and struck out two. So far he has four innings pitched.
| Name | Position | League | Team | 2012 club | Acquired |
| Wilber Bucardo | RHP | LBPN | Leon | DNP | FA 04 |
The LBPN took a break for a week during the World Baseball Classic qualifying tournament in Panama, November 15-19. Nicaragua participated in the tournament and saw Brazil pull of the upset win. Thus there are only five games included in this update. Wilber Bucardo did not pitch for last place Leon.
See you next week!
