I love those Bumgarner snotrocket gifs. I have a Bumgarner snotrocket blog and I wanted to know if I could re-post them in my blog? I would give you full credit of course.

Rumor has it, that Zito and Lincecum lost their souls to each other, in a drunken card-game...The main difference is, that Lincecum learned to pitch better left-handed during the transition than did Zito, pitching right-handed!

DYK... Clay Hensley was the pitcher who gave up No. 755 to Bonds?

The scuttlebutt lately is about Hector Sanchez getting more PT, leading to shifting Posey to 1B. I know this seems like a radical thought....but could Huff get released when Freddy Sanchez comes back? I just don't see them sending Belt or Pill down, simply because they've both been productive in their own ways and really have nothing to gain longterm by being sent down - and given Freddy's health and Crawford's inexperience, I can't see them getting rid of Burriss or Theriot at this point. Sabean was willing to eat Rowand's salary, so it doesn't seem out of the question that they'd do it again for a similarly producing player.

@KennyCupp Huff won't be released. SF is very loyal to its players, especially to those who've produced, so it would take a combination of prolonged bad play contributing to losses plus a disruptive attitude before they'd even consider DFA. Even then, Duke Neukom is believed to have been exceeding his authority in permitting the DFA of Tejada and Rowand, and he paid the price for it. I'm no multimillionaire, so I've never had the experience of watching a big investment vaporize before my eyes, but I can imagine the ownership group hesitant to flush Tejada and Rowand no matter how terrible they may have been.

I would imagine Sabean will release Theriot when Sanchez returns, because Theriot doesn't have a long history with the club and would be easier to cut ties with. It's risky, especially with Burriss and Sanchez injury-prone, but it would be one among many necessary risks they've taken thus far. The ideal situation to amiably break ties with Huff would be to trade him (with cash) to a contender, for a middle INF or pitching prospect, much as they did for Bengie Molina. That way, ownership won't freak out over a completely sunk cost. Then we could see Belt as the regular 1B, with Pill as the bench bat and spot starter, maybe against a tough LHP.

@TSF  @KennyCupp   I would think that they might send someone down, like Otero, before they release Theriot.

Having watched Timmy this spring in AZ I can tell you that to see him pitch from behind home plate is a real eye opener. The movement on his pitches is really sick! I think that his walk rate has more to do with the movement of his fastball then with a true lack of control. In the past he seemed to have a "Here, hit it if you can" attitude rather than this year's trying to harness the movement of his fastball. As a former catcher I can tell you that I'd hate to try to receive his fastball and as a former hitter I'd REALLY hate to try to hit it! If Tim can stop over-thinking his talent, he'll be fine.

@Buddy the Catcher   Many an opposition hitter, no longer fear to hit him.  Although some still have serious difficulty, as displayed by his strike out rate,  others wait on that good pitch to hit, that this year he so often has thrown.  I think he would be scarier and a better pitcher if he could harness his control  If not he will regress into the right handed Sanchez.  I know that is far fetched, but at least for a while.  It is already happening.

Also, GO NATE!  I'm always dogging Nate, but I'd be pleased to eat a plate of crow if he wants to serve me one.

Two strange things thus far about Lincecum: how many swing thrus he's getting ON the fastball despite the lack of velocity; the strange loss of movement on his offspeed pitches (the changeup used to fade down and away and now its getting almost no lateral movement, and the same with the slider).  Adam Foster (of Project Prospect) and BrooksBaseball we're twittering back and forth during the game yesterday and both were commenting a lot on the lack of movement (and spin) in his offspeed pitches as well as the loss of velocity on the fastball.   I suspect he'll figure things out as well, but the command/control issues certainly seem to be a long-term trend.  The truly curious thing is how he's combining such high levels of swing and miss stuff with high levels of hard contact.

Even though Lincecum's velocity is somewhat down, his stuff is still somewhat nasty.  His problem is control.

I wonder how much that has to do with his concentration.  He has always been a competitor,  but he needs to

make good pitches consistently.  Too many fat pitches for a guy who has swing and miss stuff.  The walking

of the 7th hitter, followed by a hit by the 8th place hitter, with one of the worst hitting pitchers on deck, seemed

like a loss of concentration moment. Either make well placed pitches to the 8th hitter, or go after the pitcher.

But this year Lincecum could walk the pitcher on 4 pitches.  As a team the giants walk rate is down from last

year.  Part of that is from the loss of Jonathan Sanchez, but Timmy could make it go back up if he does not

enhance is focus.  I thought Timmy got his teeth fixed, but his bite seems to be regressing.  He makes

20 million, the least he could do is fix his teeth.
