Nothing about Charlie Culberson or Angel Villalone?

Thanks for arranging for this interview Chris, and for the insightful questioning, great job! Regarding Surkamp, I would note that roughly right after his first MLB start, his IP in 2011 exceeded his high for his career in 2009 by 25 IP, which is the limit that Krukow says that pitchers should not push above. He totally lost it after that, so perhaps there is something to what Krukow said about that (Lincecum and Cain went way beyond those limits and survived OK, I should note). So I'm still very hopeful that he can move his great peripherals to AAA in 2012, and eventually to the majors. I agree that hoping that top of rotation status for him is being wishful, mid-rotation is probably closer to his level, and definitely at least back of rotation. If Peguero was younger and doing what he is doing, I would probably be more positive about him, but for me he has to prove it at each level. I'm not a believer, but it would not surprise me if he figures it out. I love Adrianza like an adopted son, but I agree with Sickel's assessment.

Nice get, Chris! And thanks to John for taking the time to answer your questions. Good interview. I tend to agree with most everything John said here, which I don't always on his views with Giants prospects. One thing that I wonder about with John. I've often gotten the feeling in the past that he doesn't get to travel that often to the coasts and so doesn't see much of the Giants players in person. But certainly at least his comment on Peguero implied that he had seen him play some (and I agree, Frankie is very fun to watch play, but very frustrating too, because you can see a superstar in that body if he'd just refine his approach to the game). I also agree totally with his comment re: Adrianza that MI who exceed expectations often showed good to very good contact rates when all their other numbers were poor to middling. It's the biggest reason why I became such a fan of Panik's so quickly. BB > K always makes me perk up my attention. Sad he's not going to be in Augusta where I can actually see him a bit this year.

Good interview. You asked a lot of questions I would have. In my opinion, Peguero's walk rate is only going to get worse as he nears the majors. I just don't think he's going to hit enough to be able to make up for it. Label me a non-believer.

Thanks! Peguero is such an interesting guy. He's got gobs of tools but his approach is so damned swingy. I think he'll see major league time at some point (maybe an Endy Chavez career path) but it's tempting to think what he could be if he could just be a tad more patient.
