Or so the rumors say, but I find that many Giants rumors don't usually pan out, that they are often planted by an agent wanting to make it look like his client is popular and in demand, and they can use the Giants because Sabean is famous for keeping his intentions under his kimono from the public.

Alex Gonzalez is a very good fielder.

Crawford is just as good as Gonzalez and we don't have to shell out a few million for him

any chance the giants take a chance on Hiroyuki Nakajima?.....at least you could get a little excited about him playing SS...more than the other low budget discussed options. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.as...

Man, I can sure get excited by some of these numbers. My favorite is the OBP, which I think needs to be high from a potential middle infielder, 1- or 2- hitter--get some people on base for Panda/Posey. Partly why I was so big on Jamey Carroll despite his age. But this guy posted a .410 OBP over a whole season! Ridiculous!

Love the BR similarity score jokes. You look at other names on the list and you realize why he's the perfect dumpster dive for 2012 in Sabean's eyes. As long as its 1 year and 3-4MM and he agrees to play 2nd without scowling too much and won't sweat the occasional bunt sign from Flannery, you could do worse in this market. The big caveat is the defense has to still be there. Can't believe I'm saying this, but Jerry Hairston Jr. might be a better pickup though. Lots of competition for these types even with the Dodgers and D-backs having eaten their fill.
