You may have noticed — the three of you that read this website — that we’ve been down for a few days. The reason: hackers. Dirty, dirty hackers. Sometime around 10/10/11 malicious code was inserted into some server files that help run the blogging software that we use here at BCB. The result was a script that tried to redirect you to a third party website. Thankfully my virus scanner stopped it on my home machine and I hope no one was negatively affected. I took down the site in the meantime until I could patch things up. My technical skills for this stuff generally hovers around ‘useful idiot’ and it has taken me much longer to get things repaired than I would have liked. There’s a good chance that I might have to still work on this, so don’t be too alarmed if the website has hiccups over the next few days; hopefully things are sorted, though.
But for now things appear to be OK. If you notice anything weird going on, please email me and I’ll look into it.
Thanks for reading, thanks for blogging with us, thanks for putting up with mine (and our) ramblings on the Giants, baseball, and other miscellany.
Hackers give me sad eyes.
