As a displaced Bay Area boy living in Michigan since '93 I have to say Tigers all the way. Great team, great ballpark, great fans and players you can root for. Detroit is a huge baseball town. Plus they've got their own YouTube hype video sensation ala Ashkon's Don't Stop Believin' for the Giants last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wnbbmt5O3U. Destiny!

1) Rays - c'mon! 2) Brewers - Fightin' Galoots 3) Tigers - Justin. M.F. Verlander. Also, Phil Coke is one of two MLB products of schools that I went to. (The other is Johnny Gomes). 4T) Cardinals - I actually do find the Cardinals to have one of the best fanbases. On the other hand, they still employ Jose Oquendo. 4T) Phillies - Respect the pitching. The fanbase has gotten unbelievably cocky this year. 6) Yankees - Yeah, yeah. The Yankees tend to collect my favorite non-Giants (Granderson, Sabbathia, Swisher). It's also amazing how quickly the Dodger smell washed off of Russel Martin. 7) Rangers - ov-er-rat-ed clap clap clap-clap-clap-clap 8) D-backs - Bah. I'll root for another NL West team in the playoffs. But they've got to earn it. Getting in because the Giants and Rockies fall apart and Dodgers are out trying to buy groceries with a personal check doesn't count.

1. Tampa - As an NC Giants fan, I see the Rays AAA (Bulls) all the time. It's fun to count the number of Rays who passed through Durham at some point. Great rally + low-budget team = amazing story. 2. Milwaukee - This is mainly because I believe that Ryan Braun is an excellent 5-category player and should get serious consideration for NL MVP. 3. Detroit - I have relatives who are big Tigers fans, plus Justin Verlander is exciting to watch. They are the hot team, plus they play the Yankees in the first round. 4. Texas - Josh Hamilton's from around my area, and I love the way CJ Wilson has transitioned from a mediocre reliever to one of the better pitchers in the AL. 5. St. Louis - Neutral on them, but I guess that I would like to see their season continue after rallying down the stretch. 6. Philadelphia - Philly fans suck, but I have mad respect for their starters and Hunter Pence. There are worse teams. 7. Arizona - It's a great story going from worst to first, but it really ticks me off. The fact that they did it with this odd combination of journeymen and AAAA players plus Justin Upton makes it even worse. 8. Yankees - I absolutely loathe this team. If they could just fall off the face of the earth, that'd be great.

1. Milwaukee - I like the Brewers. Good players, fun team to watch, from a cool city. 2. Tampa Bay - Small-budget team competing in a super tough division. How can you not root for them? 3. Arizona - I know they're a division rival, but my allegiance for the most part goes NL, then NL West. If the Giants don't win it, then I'd rather somebody from the same division win it then anybody else. 4. Detroit - Cool team. Love Cabrera and Verlander. MVP and Cy Young, respectively. 5. St. Louis - I don't hate them as bad as the Rangers, Yankees, or Phillies. 6. Texas - They're not the Yankees or Phillies. 7. Philadelphia - They're not the Yankees. 8. New York - I do not like this team at all and never want to see them win under any circumstances.

1. Rays: I have a man crush on Andrew Friedman. I wish the Giants would take the 10 mil they're gonna spend on Crisp and Gonzalez and offer it to him. 2. Yankees and Phillies. I know I'm the minority, but I LOVE teams that put winning as the number 1 priority... these teams do every year. So they deserve it. 3. Not the Brewers. I know Selig deep down wants them to win. And anybody that thinks home field advantage should be determined by the All Star game winner doesn't deserve to have their team in World Series, let alone win it.

1. Rays: Really, who doesn't love a Cinderella story? Especially since they beat the Red Sox. No one likes the Red Sox. 2. Brewers: I like this team. I like Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, and their pitching. Also, I like rooting for teams who decided to throw all their chips into the pot. Even though I'm not a fan of Tony Plush. 3. Texas: Even after last year, I instinctively root for teams who have never won or not won in a long time. They have no one who I don't like and run their team well. If they had beaten us last year I imagine my feelings on them would be different. 4. Tigers: Justin Verlander deserves the AL MVP, and Detroit needs it. 5. D-backs: Yeah, yeah, they're a division rival. I just can't muster up the same kind of hate for them as I can the Dodgers, Rockies, and Padres. They're a quality team and I like worst-to-first stories. 6. Cardinals: Am I the only one who just doesn't like this team? I don't know what it is. I like Albert Pujols. I like their pitchers. I don't like the team. Never have. Never could really figure this out. 7. Yankees: I never thought that there could be a team below these guys, but... 8. Phillies: Like the Yankees, except their fans are worse. A tough task, but they pulled it off. Screw the Phillies.

1. Tampa Bay Rays - The ultimate cinderella team that crashed the MLB postseason party, thanks to an epic collapse by evil empire #2, the Boston Red Sox. 2. St. Louis Cardinals - Another party crasher who's red hot now, hopefully they can beat the Phils. Helps to to have a great, classy fan base and some guy named Albert Pujols. 3. Detroit Tigers - Justin Verlander is the best pitcher on the planet right now and what a great, uplifting story it would be for the city and community of Detroit. 4. Arizona D'Backs - I know it's a division rival but they're not in the same vane like the Dodgers or Rockies. And it's no shame for the Giants to say they lost the NL West to the World Champs. 5. Milwaukee Brewers - It would be cool to see Ryan Braun and the Brew Crew win their first World Series title. Loses points though for the annoying Prince Fielder and Nyjer Morgan. 6. Texas Rangers - Nothing to really like or dislike about the Rangers, but its usually customary for Giants fans to root for an NL team before an AL team to win the World Series. 7. Philadelphia Phillies - Never going to root for them, ever. But the only saving grace is that they're in the NL and they're not as insufferable as... 8. New York Yankees - aka evil empire #1. Haven't they won enough World Series titles? Do they still play in New York? Is A-Rod still on the team? I think I've made my point...

1. Tampa Bay - Same reasons as given in original post. 2. Arizona - So they beat us for the division. I'm tired of hearing broadcasters rail against the NL west as being a terrible division, not worthy of respect e.t.c. This in spite of the fact that the current W.S. champions came out of the NL west. Young team that has played well and deserves to be there, even if it is at the Giant's expense. 3. Milwaukee - NL team. Ryan Braun's quality as a player is enough to overcome my distaste of Nyjer Morgan. 4. St Louis - One of those teams that always seems to be in the mix, but never really does anything. A bunch of big bats with okay pitching. Still, an NL team. 5. Texas - No hard feelings from last year. Preferable to the Yankees. Never won title, like a lot of the players. 6. Detroit - City needs something to cheer for, plus they can knock off the Yankees right now. And Verlander is a pitching machine. 7. Phillies - Do I need to explain? 8. New York - See (7)

All I want is a Brewers-Rays World Series. That would be excellent. It would likely piss off Fox and the MLB powers that be, and it would be some fun baseball. Plus it would involve a couple of franchises that haven't won the world series. (Right? Brewers haven't won have they??)
