Now that we're making some moves, how about a lineup of: 1-Torres (cf) 2-Kepp (2b) 3-Sando (3b) 4-Beltran(rf) 5-Belt(1b) 6-Ross(lf) 7-Cabrera(ss) 8-whiteside(c) 9-pitcher Then we let outfielders play outfield (sorry Belt, you're going to play 1b) and let the old men (thanks for what you've done Huff) come in for late at-bats.

Whiteside is awful. His inability to throw runners out cost us in low scoring games, which is just about every game. DNW Whiteside. Cabrera is garbage too. Hopefully we see Crawford playing as much as possible.

It is hard to believe that they got rid of Tejada and not Cabrera (who has taken over for Bill Hall quite admirably). Cabrera, more or less, lost the game with Cain and would have taken a lot of pressure off Lincecum the other night had he made that double play. Instead, it turns into a three-run shot vice a solo homer (gotta love the look on his face after the home run was given up.) It seems like the management is playing the game of "Least of all Evils," but choosing the wrong guys to go. First guy to go should be Meulens--the hitting and hitting philosophy is institutionally bad and the players are suffering at the hands of an organizational failure. Meulens may have been a success at the minor league level but it has yet to be seen in two seasons with the Giants. As much as I would like to see Crawford back up as he is hungry to be in the majors and will get his hits (his glove alone is worth the, what, ~30 point drop in average over Cabrera/Tejada), I am afraid that anybody who comes to this club right now will develop some poor habits in the batters box that will be tough to break.

I AM SO THRILLED that I never have to see one of those clueless Rowand swings in a Giants uniform ever again. His approach to hitting would not earn him a spot on my old Little-League All-Star team. It is unbearable. Tejada is not an ounce better. His skills and attitude are pure trash. Clearing out the garbage is exactly what this team needs. Neither of these two crusty old vet's bring anything to the table anymore. Maybe we will get Crawford back? Not that him and his .190 BA are good by any means, but when he was our everyday SS, we were 61-46! (July 30 being his last game). But he brought a spark, a youthful energy to this team, much like most of our pitchers do, and none of our hitters do, that is SEVERELY lacking on this team. Lets hope for a D-Backs loss tonight, a sweep this weekend, and whammy....hello September 2 games out of first place. We don't deserve it...but we are still in this. Don't forget what we did in September last year...we just need a little energy and luck!

I wonder if the front office had these moves in mind when they said that money would be no issue at the deadline. If they did, then Sabean and Neukom were idiots for not DFA-ing them a month ago. Or sooner.

Too little too late. These moves would have made a difference a month ago. Nice to see Brett Pill get a chance to make some memories and have some stories to tell his kids, but I will never get the love some fans have for him; he has an .871 OPS in Fresno. Brad Eldred has an .875 OPS there. Connor Gillaspie is at .834. BILL HALL has a .904 OPS at Fresno. Let's start taking these PCL numbers for what they're worth. Also, up to this point, Rowand's contract may have been worse then Zito's. The difference is how many years Zito has left, but it is shocking how much they paid Rowand per year.

Not that we should cut Beltran but while we are talking about under production.... Beltran, Carlos Team AVG OBP SLG OPS (2011) NYM .289 .391 .513 .904 SF .270 .289 .392 .681

Sadly, that's probably the best line a hitter on the Giants has put up since Beltran has been here.

I watched the game on TV last night, or at least as much of it as I could stand. I couldn't believe how patsy and effeminate were Aubrey Huff's non-commital swings were as he was striking out. How much longer is Bruce Bochy going to keep playing him and when (and if) will the Giants drop him too? Speaking of Bochy and Tim Lincecum in the game the night before, even I could tell that Tim was tired and not ready to give it anywhere near his best. Yet Bochy kept him out there one final inning and Tim gave up any number of hits and runs. So when an amateur like me sees things this clearly, one has to shake one's head and wonder about our gifted manager. Perhaps, along with Aubrey, Bruce Bochy can also be dropped to the netherworld of baseball. Personally, I'd like to see a whole generation of new Giants get a chance to show themselves off and gain some experience since we don't have a hope in hell of regaining National West first place.

Wow...and Wow. I'm not even sure how to respond to this news. Tejada makes sense and the move costs almost nothing. The Rowand move is somewhat shocking. I'm not unhappy about anything except the money.

I feel like the half happy and half sad mask... Glad the Giants are making moves, sad that it took so long and we've come down such a dark road to get here.

what's it mean when they are designated for assignment. cuz it sounds like they pretty much cut em and they aren't coming back.

It could mean a lot of things. Rest assured they aren't going to be Giants anymore. They either have to be traded or outright released now (assuming they've both already cleared waivers).
