I agree 100%. Why can't we do anything out of the box. I am so sick of watching 230 hitters watch a grooved 3-0 fastball and then eventually strike out. Cut them loose for God's sake, they can't hit the sliders or changeups to come. The only loser you didn't mention was Carlos Beltran. That guy came here to sabotage us. It is obvious he is not a part of this team. If Bochy allows him to hit with RISP he should have his head examined. Also, note to Sabean: do not trade with or acquire NY Mets. Every one has been a complete bust except way back to Jeff Kent. The rest suck! And this loser is a rental, thanks a lot.

It's very discouraging, a wealthy team like the Giants, a very wealthy team, refusing to spend money for excellent players and always turning to veterans on the chance that they will catch fire for a month or two and help the Giants reclaim their place as division leaders. The team is colourless and listless. Were I Mat Caine or Tim Lincecum, I'd bribe the top brass to trade me to a team with some hitting.

Great article. It's time to gamble. Seriously, can giving Hector Sanchez a shot turn out any worse than watching Whiteside go 0-4 with 4k after swinging and missing 11 times yesterday. 9 of them on challenge fastballs right down the middle of the pipe? There's a slim chance Sanchez can bat .250 versus righties... Just play him, you've got nothing to lose. Crawford might bat .220 the rest of the way, if he does, he has more value than OCab and Miggy, just from his defense and OBP... What have you got to lose? Just play Peguero in CF, is Torres THAT much better. Peguero could probably bat .228, and who knows, there's a slight chance he's like Altuve and just catches fire. You have to take desperate measures. I know these kids aren't ready. But let's face it. We're gonna be facing a lot of AAA pitching the rest of the way (Guys like Sosa and Happ), and at least I know these prospects can hit AAA pitching, I can't say the same for some of the current Giants.

Cain was one pitch away from getting out of it 2-2. Bochy's fault for even leaving him in for the 8th. DeRosa was called out, but was safe. Would have won the game with Beltran's single.. The bullpen couldn't work miracles every single day. The Giants may have sealed their coffin, but not for the lack of trying. Torres is back. Huff can still get a key hit. The Rox could sweep the Diamondbacks and the season starts again. Or not. Losing Posey, Sanchez, Sanchez, Wilson has been key. Belt should have been there all year. Too bad Uribe left (didn't seem like such a big deal at the time, but Crawford can't hit. Tejada and Cabrera are over. The Giants should have gone out and got a real shortstop if they were serious about this. Keppinger is no Sanchez. Who knew Ross would lose it completely. Sabean didn't get enough for the strech run and Bochy seems a bit stunned by it all. After yesterday I felt the season was over. I hope the team doesn't feel that way and they go out and win 10 straight. Probably won't happen, but in this game you just never know.

Rory, I felt the same way after seeing Tejada's reaction after being told to bunt. Considering Tejada's performance this season, he should thank his lucky stars he is still being paid to put on a major league uniform. His pouting, his disrespect, and refusal to leg out his bunt should in the least reserve him a spot on the bench for the foreseeable future. Crawford would be thrilled to hold the bat and play solid D for the Giants. Sabean and Bochy ought to think about canning Tejada for the rest of the year. Tejada has not earned what he he is being given. Tejada ought to consider whether he has really earned the right to do anything other than what he is told.

i said to a friend over pints the other day, "...three grand slams? so what! They took the Yankees for two outta three on the road! My world champions are seven for eighteen in their last 25..." i couldn't believe what i was hearing myself say. He promptly reminded me, "A's swept the Giants in interleague." A pint later we invented the "baseball player name" engine: first name is the model of your first car, last name is the last name of the person your kindergarten or elementary scool was named in honor of. i suspect this game may distract the comments section from the misery of the Giants.
