You DFA Rowand over Huff because of leadership qualities and a glut of OFs on the team. I'd rather have Burrell on the Bench than Rowand. If this team did not have Rowand, then Huff would be a target, but he was so loved last year that it would be sad to not give him one full season to play out of his slump. He could easily get cut in spring training 2012, that is, if the Giants don't win another WS. Then Huff's option would likely be exercised. :(

Belt's number's playing everyday at first would at the very least match those of Huff, seems like a no brainer. Everyone keeps talking about upgrading the catcher position. Max Ramirez has been raking in Fresno since we signed him. Is it time to cut Eli and give the everyday job to Ramirez?

Huff has the most ABs of any Giant (he's been crappy, but a healthy crappy!). Rowand is 3rd. So Rowand has actually been as close to an everyday fixture as we've had this year. That said, Beltran will take care of Rowand. Now we just need to get Huff on to the bench. Huff is neither the present nor the future, it's an embarrassment to keep trotting him out there every day.

I'm not one of those guys that will chant "Belt is better!" when Huff comes out to bat, but I think it really loudly in my head... Give Belt a chance to get comfortable and he will live up to his minor league potential, throw him in there from time to time and you'll get a sputtering engine with no rhythm and its no wonder!

That sounds like something I would say.

As much as I love Huffy, I too am sauntering over to the Free Belt side, and the more I think about it, the more confounding the situation is. You might think the Giants were overly sentimental, but there was no sentimentality over Uribe, Renteria, or Burrell. You might think it was a veteran thing, but they were more than willing to let Brandon Crawford figure it out in the majors at the expense of a veteran like Tejada. I don't get it. There must be something else going on here, involving ransoms and naked pictures of people's wives. P.S. Reading between the lines, I thought the whole "Ishikawa's role" was code for "we're keeping Belt here so he can force his way onto the lineup, and we'll give him every 3rd day to do it." But alas he no play today. Bochy would sooner swallow a gallon of diarrhea than play Belt over Huff.
