What else is interesting is that having looked through pitch f/x for far too long is that AT&T park tends to depress pitching velocity for Giants pitchers. The effect seems to be about 1 mph slower at home compared to the road.

i think it also has to do with both teams being in the west coast, and that there is a risk in showing teams that can't typically can't score runs, going into extras, and the mentality that its more exciting to the average viewer to watch a slugfest versus a pitching duel

Very interesting statistic, all five of the current starters for the giants have been drafted by them. Hats off to the World Champion Giants scouting department. Speaking of the World Champs, why are they not on tv more. Instead I'am forced to whatch world Chumps on espn, no offence Yankee, Red Sox, or Phillies Fans. Come on the game of the week Cubs at Red sox, I would rather watch Fixed News, oh I mean Fox News. Today we have a great match up between two of the best pitching staffs in baseball(A's at Giants). How is this not the game of the week! A first place club and a club that is knocking at the door. I'am begining to think ESPN and Fixed News are run by the Same People. Back to Lincecum OOOOOOUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTT STANDING! I thing he is a HUGE reason why the pitching staff is so good, not to take anything away from Cain, Sanchez, Bumgarner and Vogelsong. He sets the bar and everyone else follows.

It all comes down to money... More people will watch the Yankees and Sox, so it's more profitable. But it sucks, and I'd argue it's a bit short sighted. Lincecum is their best pitcher --one of the best in baseball period, actually -- so yes he has an awful lot to do with it.
