Any particular reason why you think Cain, and Escobar particularly, are just 1-2 WAR players? Personally I see Escobar in 2 years as a .280/.330/.385 hitting shortstop who's +10 defensively, which I see as a 3 to 3.5 WAR player, and Cain has a chance to be a 2-3 WAR player IMO.

Escobar, I don't think will hit a lick, though he's certainly young enough to prove me wrong. I also don't see him as a true talent +10 defender at SS, because that would make him one of the 5 best defensive players in baseball and he's still got a lot of work to do on his defensive mechanics. (Averaging +10 over a three year stretch at the most demanding defensive position is an underrated feat of awesomeness). Cain's got some Ryan Sweeney type potential in there. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he was more of a 2-3 win player. You just have to wonder about the knee injury history with a player of that type.

I think Peguero winds up a RF, but your point is well taken: the Giants didn't match up with the Royals. I'm at least thankful that Greinke didn't end up in Colorado or Los Angeles.
