I'm pretty sure he mixed in a few sliders those first 40 pitches. And he has two breaking pitches; the hard slider and a slow curve ball. The ESPN announcers called his final strikeout pitch a slider, but it was clearly a curve, and a good one. He's got four good pitches, and we can see what he can do when he throws 'em all for strikes. Mark, we're clearly of similar vintage. I remember Halicki's, but was living in Norway and missed Montefusco's. I remember Gaylord's, though; I was twelve, and also stayed up late to listen on my Dad's transistor radio, which I borrowed that entire summer (without permission!). But Sanchez's is really something special. Thanks, Chris, for another terrific analysis.

No doubt he's earned a few more! What a performance. I remember Montefusco's, I was in HS. The year before we got one from Ed Halicki. I saw Jerry Reuss of the Dodgers no-hit the Giants at the 'Stick in '80. It was terrible. He had a perfect game late, and lost it due to an error. He beat Vida Blue that day. I still remember Gaylord Perry's 1968 no-hitter, my older brother Brian had a transistor radio and we stayed up late past bedtime to hear it. I wasn't even 8 years old! Boy it is nice to see a Giant do that at home. Terrific analysis, Chris, love all the PFX stuff.
