Stop It.

31st October 2008 by Chris 8 Comments

I raised this question once before, but, is the “Trade Matt Cain” meme the worst thing ever?
Select quotes from an article published yesterday on SFGiants.com:
The discussion over whether the Giants should trade Matt Cain already is a lively one, conducted on radio talk shows and Internet fan sites and by baseball reporters nationwide.
Does lively mean [...]

World Series = Done.

30th October 2008 by Chris 11 Comments

Here’s the deal: I wanted to watch the game last night but I just couldn’t get into it. I watched the last half of the 6th but that was it. Most unexciting final game of the World Series, ever? I think the format was messing me up. It’s just not as exciting to watch a [...]

Borking Things

28th October 2008 by Chris 9 Comments

I’m in the process of changing over the theme design for BCB today, and as a result, things may look broken now and then. The new theme should be great once I get it up-and-running but it might be a little bumpy in the meantime.
To Do List:
1. Change link and menu colors
2. Remove logo
3. Create [...]

I’m going light on the content today because my head feels like a fishbowl; sloshing around with any movement I make. This is what you get for having a cold and taking DayQuil. Why is it that the medication you take when you’re sick often makes you feel worse than your ailments? But, I digress.
*Also, [...]

OPD Numbers Out

21st October 2008 by Chris 5 Comments

Interesting post from BBTF’s Chris Dial yesterday utilizing his OPD numbers. OPD stands for Offense + Defense and it’s Dials attempt at a more complete measure of a players worth by taking into account run creation and run prevention. Both very important things to have in a player.
Dial is quoted as:
The runs are rated above [...]

Congrats, Rays!

20th October 2008 by Chris 9 Comments

Congratulations to the Tampa Bay — I’ll always want to call them them Devil Rays – Rays. Taking an ALCS from the defending World Series Champions, the Boston Red Sox, is no easy feat. This was one of the few games this post-season that I’ve stayed up all the way to watch from the start [...]

Wheels. Off.

17th October 2008 by Chris 3 Comments

You’re killing me Dan Wheeler.

Note: This only includes Wheeler’s 8th inning and not the .1 inning pitched at the end of the 7th.
Did Joe Maddon leave Wheeler in too long? It’s easy to look back on the moves that didn’t work but Wheeler looked terrible in the 8th inning last night. He was constantly missing [...]

Finding Free Talent

Talkin’ bout Josh Phelps and the quest for a league average first baseman.

I’m Back.

Dear Blog,
Jamaica was hot. The weather was nice and I did my best to soak up some Jamaican culture while I was there; read: I drank my fair share of Red Stripes. We stayed at one of those ‘all inclusive’ styled resorts and the best way I can describe the experience was like going to [...]

Taking a Hiatus For Great Reasons

2nd October 2008 by Chris 12 Comments

I’ll be away from BCB for the next week and a half. On Saturday, October 4th, I’ll be getting married and then me and the future wife — I’ll have to get used to saying that — will be heading off to Jamaica for a weeks worth of (hopefully) sun.
If I tried to bring my [...]
