Yeah, never saw the potential in Velez either, I’ve just been keeping my fingers crossed.

About Denker, it’s what I’ve been saying about Dodd Stadium over and over again, it’s an offensive hellhole.

However, Fresno and AAA is an offensive firestorm relative to Dodd, so while his numbers there are nice, they are nothing to write home about either, even for a 2B.

I’m rooting for him, but I don’t expect much out of him either. But you never know when a batter has as good hitting discipline as Denker, so I’m hoping he becomes a nice surprise for us, particularly since we got him from the D-gers for Sweeney. I would love to rub him in Colletti’s face.

Why does WordPress make you go through all this registration nonsense? Two thumbs down.

As for Velez, I’d like to see him make it back and get those 250 AB’s. He’s raw and his game is flawed but he has enough talent, speed anyway, to be a positive impact on a Big League roster.

I think we’re all hoping Durham gets traded at some point soon, which leaves a vacancy in the middle-infield. Maybe Denker is the answer. But maybe not. If Velez proves he can hit AAA pitching, and gets his fundamentals down in the process, I think he deserves a 2nd chance. Then again, if he’s hitting in the mid to low .200′s come September with a whole bunch of E’s on his Grizzlies resume, maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.

[...] Velez’s first crash-and-burn with the Giants I posed the question of “Will he get another 250 AB’s in a Giants uni?”. I didn’t think so then [...]
