Hey OGC,

I'm not sure how I would subtract Zito's numbers from the team RZR. I'll need to google around some and see if it's possible for me to do.

Yeah, Durham has been amazingly bad, easily the worst defensive 2B in the NL, if he had qualified for full-time status.

Zito is a flyball pitcher, so the infield defense might not damage him too much, but I'm sure when he does give up the rare groundball, it's probably scooting past our defenders into the outfield.

Nice article, as always.

My question is this: what would the Giants RZR be if you took out Zito's stats? Not sure if you can do this, but clearly he's just a batting practice pitcher right now. Is that his fault or the defense's fault? Right now, I would put more of it on him, and that could be reflected by a team's RZR being worse with him pitching.

Plus, wow, Durham's just horrible right now, a statue probably couldn't do much worse fielding. I wonder if that's contributing to Zito's problems. Is there a way to check the RZR of each fielder when Zito pitches? And then to compare with the overall RZR? Maybe some fielders are just doing very poorly when Zito is pitching.

Great analysis of the most infamous Giant in the history of our franchise! We now have the worst contract in the history of the game on our team, and it's not going away for 6 more years! AAAAHHHH!!!
