I would really like to see not just Sanchez, but Lincecum in the rotation before the year is over. I think it's time to give up on Lowry, which just makes more room for the phenoms.

Zito, Cain, Lincecum, Sanchez for 2008? Get your World Series tickets now, and while you're there, pick some up for 2009-2018 as well. That could be the rotation to beat for a long time.

If Morris can post a 4.2 ERA I would be enthralled. I think the best case scenario is somewhere in the mid-4's.

I've got more faith in Lowry because he is younger than Matty and hopefully should bounce back.

No staff is a lock, thats why they play the games, but I think the NL West will have some solid rotations. The Padres in particular scare me the most.

I think the Giants' scout saw something in Ortiz in Winter ball that has, so far, been born out in ST. They brought him in the be the #5 starter. While I am a big fan of Sanchez, I know he needs to perfect his slider. Assuming Ortiz wins the #5 spot, it will be very interesting to see what they do with Sanchez. They may send him down to Fresno to work on gaining consistencey on the slider - or they may figure he is basically a one pitch pticher and move him into the bullpen.
I am more optimistic about Morris than I am about Lowry. Morris 1st half was decent, his August was decent, his second half numbers really exploded after his broken rib. I think he will be about 4.2 in ERA this year. I just do not know anything about the causes of Lowry's poor '06; I don't know if it was injury related or the league catching up to him.
I think it is just to difficult to predict which staff will perform best this year. Each of the Dodgers, Padres and Giants could have outstanding years, each could be average. Each has question marks.
