I like Frandsen a lot but once people start talking about intangibles like "grit" and "determination" I kinda get queasy.

A perfect example is when David Eckstein won the WS MVP. Ugh!

Maybe modern scouts should start looking beyond judging a player based purely on "physical tools", Maybe his limited tools coupled with his desire is enough for him to succeed. I see him as a future Mark Loretta. He usually starts off cold the first month he's playing at a new level, then hits around .350 the rest of the year so learning curve aside I think he will be the best homegrown Giants position player since Bill Mueller, not that that's saying much.

Succeeding in the AFL and having that translate into success in the big show are two very different things. Frandsen will never be more than a backup caliber player in his career. He just doesn't have the physical tools. His range is sub-par and I'm not convinced that he will hit enough to warrant his constant presence in the lineup.

I think with Kevins strong AFL showing Giants management has to give him a shot to play 2nd next year. I don't know what kind of Major Leaguer Kevin will be but I don't see him being an All-Star, I do seeing him becoming someone like a Mark Grudzielanek type player. Good contact skills, doubles power, and decent defense.
